In its fifth year the Twin Oaks 5-a-side Challenge Cup was contested on an extremely windy but warm day with 24 teams playing in over 65 matches at Burgess Hill Town Rugby Club.
The standard of football on display becomes higher and higher each year which means whoever makes it through to the group stages has definitely played some good football. Also it was good to see some new teams and new faces taking part this year.
Allstars and Franklin were the two teams that made their way through to the Final. Franklin made their way through the league stages, quarter final and semi final without conceding a goal until the final which saw them concede only one goal all day. The last game of the day was the most impressive final that spectators have seen so far.
Franklin breaking the deadlock and eventually winning the game 2-1.
Amazingly three teams finished the group stages with the maximum amount of points (15) Franklin & The Unknowns with a goal difference of +13 and Allstars with a goal difference of +11.
The fourth league winner Maclin Pumps finished with 12 points and a goal difference of +7
The second place positions in each league in the group stages were AFC Shoreham A with 12 points and a goal difference of +12, White Hart B with 10 points and a goal difference of +9, Eastbourne Dynamos also with 10 points and a goal difference of +6 and White Hart A with 9 points with a goal difference of +9.

A well done goes to Eastbourne Dynamos who for the first time have made it through the group stages into the knockouts (without their centre half come top 5-a-side striker who's name I cannot remember).
Sorry Mark, I was asked to mention this by the team.

Eastbourne Dynamos went on to beat Maclin Pumps 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 score in their quarter final and narrowly losing out to eventual finalists Allstars 2-1.

The Top GoalScorer Trophy within the group stages was won by Ryan Walton from White Hart A who scored 8 goals.

Twin Oaks Football would like to thank all of the teams that participated in the tournament this year.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!
