The 2nd annual Twin Oaks 5-a-side Challenge Trophy kicked off this year at Burgess Hill Rugby Club, Poveys close, Burgess Hill. Thirty two teams competed on four pitches to decide who will become Twin Oaks Challenge Trophy 2005 champions. Franklin F.C. showed themselves to be unstoppable, conceding only 1 goal in the whole tournament. The goal was conceded in the final to a team called St Francis whom they eventually went on to beat 3-1.
Well done Franklin F.C.

The following five teams did not concede a goal within the group stages Adur, Tel Town, Franklin F.C, Bigbird F.C and Jolly Boatman 2.

Due to the standard of football on show only four teams achieved maximum points within the group stages St Francis with +12 goal difference, Franklin with +9 goal difference, Adur with +7 goal difference and Tel Town with +6 goal difference.

For the first time ever we had two teams within the group stages with the same goal difference of +2 and the same goals scored +7 competing for second place in league four.

The two teams Pilgrims II and Turners Hill A went into a penalty shootout to see who would progress to the knockout stages.

Pilgrims II won the shootout 3-0. The Pilgrims II played Junction B in the first round of the knockouts and held them to a 0-0 draw once again Pilgrims II won their penalty shootout 4-2.
They were eventually knocked out in the next round by St Pauls 1-0.
The top goalscorer trophywas awarded to Phil Gault from St Francis who scored a massive 6 goals within the group stages.

See you in a few weeks.
