In the first of a series of pre-season friendly fixtures Twin Oaks U15’s ran out easy 12-0 winners against their opponents East Grinstead Town , the team that Twin Oaks were victorious against in the Plate Final at the end of last season.

In this curtain-raiser for the forth-coming season Twin Oaks were in fine form. With many weeks of hard-training sessions under their belts and with a strengthened squad of players they were in full-control of this game from start to finish.

With five first-half goals, a hat-trick from new-comer Alex, one a stunning shot from all of 30-yards, and a brace from team captain Harry, Twin Oaks were rarely troubled by their opponents. In fact Aaron in goal for Twin Oaks did not have to make a single save during the first 40 minutes.

The second half was much the same with Twin Oaks in total control. The team managed to rattle in seven more goals, with the pick of the bunch being scored by Bradley after a fine move down the left from defence to attack between Grant and Tyler.

Goals in the second 40 minutes came from Bradley, Grant and Tyler. Matt weighed-in with two goals and both Harry and Alex added to their first half strikes.

The score could have been easily more than a dozen with Twin Oaks creating many chances during the game, many of them falling to Tyler who finally found his scoring touch in the second-half.

East Grinstead , even by putting an adult between the posts for the last 15 minutes of the game, could not compete with an excellent team effort by Twin Oaks leaving the manager Glenn more than pleased with their performance. He even had the luxury during the game of trying-out many different team formats and tactics ahead of the forth-coming season.

In their defence East Grinstead did keep going until the end and they did actually find the net towards the end of the game, but their effort was ruled out for being offside.

Overall the home-team and their supporters were more than happy with the team effort shown in this first friendly match. New-comers, Alex and Liam, gelled well with the existing and established players. However the squad know that this result, although a confidence builder, will be nothing like the games they will face during the eagerly awaited new season.
