Twin Oaks seventh game of the season saw them entertain Barns Green at home on this "Guy Fawkes" day fixture. So would it prove to be a "light the blue touch paper and stand well back" type of a game or would it fizzle out like a damp rocket on a wet Bonfire night. Well we were not to be disappointed as Twin Oaks turned in a fantastic performance to overturn the opposition 6-0.

(I would like to apologise in advance for any further firework related puns that may appear in this match report).

From the kick-off Twin Oaks went on the offensive and produced some brilliant passing play that resulted in several early attempts on goal. However for all the early possession and chances that Twin Oaks had, the opening passage of play proved frustrating for the home supporters as their team seemed unable to put the ball in the back of the net.

It took a full 20 minutes before the first goal was scored, a move from the left side of the pitch saw the ball crossed into the box where Ben was on hand at the far post to tap the ball into the empty net. 1-0 the score. A couple of minutes later Twin Oaks doubled their lead with a "cracker" of a goal from Harry. 2-0 up after 22 minutes of play.

It is a credit to the Barns Green defence that no further goals were scored before half-time, as the home side were now in total control of the game, mounting wave after wave of attacking play.

The second half started much the same as the first with Twins Oaks on the attack, however this time it did not take as long for Twin Oaks to register a goal. A "rocket" of a shot from Liam after 3 minutes of the re-start gave the goalkeeper no chance as the ball flew into the back of net. The score now stood at 3-0.

At this stage of the match it would have been easy for Barns Green to give up the game, but again to their credit they had a period of the match where, although they did not threaten the Twin Oaks defence, they were able frustrate the pattern of the home side’s attacking play. It took until half-way through the second half before Twin Oaks were to score again, this time an effort from Jack after some neat passing play made it 4-0. Jack seemed delighted as he celebrated his goal, perhaps it was a case of "jumping jack".

Two further goals added to the Twin Oaks score. A superb shot from Ben with 5 minutes of the game left saw him gain his second goal of the game and to end the match with a "bang" a brilliant effort from Murat on the stroke of full-time saw him "catherine wheeling" away in excitement as Twin Oaks ran out 6-0 winners.

Twin Oaks as a team had turned in a fine "sparkler" of a performance, at times making it seem effortless.

However the individual performances of both Ben and Murat are well worthy of a mention. Well done lad's....
