After the previous week's cup exploits it was back to the league action for Twin Oaks in an away game at nearby Horsham. Prior to the match kick-off there were serious concerns over the frozen condition of the pitch and at one stage the game was in danger of being called off. However after an inspection by the referee and the fact that the early morning sunlight was already softening the ground it was decided that the game should go ahead.

During the early period of the game the players found it hard to control the ball on the tricky surface. This resulted in the ball spending quite a lot of time in the air in the opening few minutes. However after 5 minutes or so the players seem to adapt to the conditions and it was Twin Oaks who were able to move the ball around on the deck and create some exciting passing moves.

Building up the play from the back, through the midfield and down the flanks, Twin Oaks started to dominate the game with Horsham Tigers offering little resistance to attacking play of the away side. It came as no surprise at all that it was Twin Oaks scored the opening goal, a fierce shot from Harry was parried out by the Horsham Tigers keeper only for the ball to arrive at the feet of Ben, who calmly slotted the ball into the net. 1-0 to Twin Oaks.

Twin Oaks continued to attack and pressurise the home sides defence, launching attacks from both the left and right sides of the pitch. A second goal duly arrived on 25 minutes, after a well taken corner Bradley was able to find the back of the net. 2-0 the score.

For all of their attacking play, this remained the score at half-time. Twins Oaks must have been wondering how they were not more than two goals ahead at the break. Horsham Tigers were wondering how their centre forward had not managed to slot the ball into an empty net after a mix-up just before half-time between Tim in the Twin Oaks defence and goalkeeper Aaron.

The start of the second half saw Horsham Tigers making a valid effort to fight back; however it was the all attacking Twin Oaks that continued to dominate the game. Twin Oaks were now pushing forward at every opportunity as they went in search of the third goal that would surely kill off any hopes that the home side had of making a game of it. Unbelievably it was Horsham Tigers who scored the third goal of the game, although flagged for offside their forward was able to somehow place the ball into the net after a break-way move after 15 minutes of the half. For all their efforts Twin Oaks were now only leading by a single goal, with the score at 2-1 in their favour.

Twin Oaks who should have had the game wrapped up by now, seemed to move up a gear and after a series of attacks on the Horsham Tigers goal got their just reward with a goal on 20 minutes by the impressive Ben, 3-1, surely they would not allow Horsham Tigers back into the game now. Two minutes later and any doubts were laid to rest when Ben scored his third and Twin Oaks fourth goal and final goal of the game. 4-1 the final score.

A game played out on an awkward playing surface had been won by the better side. Well done lads and well done Ben on scoring a hat-trick....
