After the events of the past week I think that we knew a period of adjustment would be required. However in both matches the evidence was available to everyone watching that if we do the right things then we can and will perform in coming weeks. Although the results did not work our way I think you should be pleased with your performance.

The first game against our league rivals Copthorne was a big adjustment and we were 4 down at the end of the first half. This was a difficult match as we had not only team adjustments to make, we had to adjust to a very sloping pitch that defensively caused problems with not dropping back far enough to allow for long goal and drop kicks. The pitch was poorly marked also. We also tried with Elliot on the right of midfield and Lewis in the middle with Jerome. I think we could have done with Elliots speed of foot and thought. However the first half although seemingly one sided was not all it seemed as we hit their bar and post numerous times but luck was not on our side.

The second half was different, as we burst into life doing all the things that are good about our play and with Sam particularly leading the line and chasing the opposition down. Sam and Tom brought us back into the game and we pressured the opposition for the third coming close on a number of occasions. One of the only chances that Copthorne had put an end of this cup match.

The Copthorne manager commiserated at the end of the match but had been impressed by our play throughout. I think we may surprise them in the league as we have learnt much today.
