Chesswood, Heveco Field

Something will remain with everyone who attended or played in this game today, and the question has to be asked, why do some many people want to move to the countryside when it smells as bad as this? The odour of the mushroom feed wafted gently over the pitch as the game was played within sniffing distance of Chesswood Mushrooms.

Other than that we performed poorly today. Maybe we are a little spoilt by our pitch, however I do not think that a pitch with so many cambers and which was so small helps our method of play. Our passing was poor and we were particularly in the first half lucky not to be down by at least a couple of goals.

It was after the break that we actually conceded a first and then a second, it was only now that we started to compete and pulled the game back to 2-1 as we piled on a lot of pressure after a cross from the right and Tom reaching to score. The second goal came from a neat through ball which left Tom 1v1 against the Storrington keeper. A cooler finish you will not see as the keeper came towards him he chipped the keeper to bring the game back to 2 each.

We kept driving forward and may have scored a third which in retrospect may have been a little unjust after our first half performance.

Thanks should be said to Ryan who made a couple of goal line clearances.

My favourite comment came on the way home when I asked Jerome why he thought that we had played so poorly? to which he replied it was the smell! I can see it on Match Of The Day.
