The Sunday game also was interesting with good and bad points. Saltdean are amongst the leaders in there league and had one or two good players. The first half was superb and although we went a goal down we had some superb movement from defence breaking quickly from Elliot to Sam to Tom in a rapier like movement. Once again we pressed and deserved to go in at half time with more than Tom’s equalizer. The Saltdean manager mentioned as much as we walked across the pitch at half. We have played and impressed many of our opposing managers and I am proud to hear their comments.

The second half was just a little too much football this weekend and when we conceded two goals after the break, exposed by a lack of pace as Jerome was playing centre back. This also demonstrates how important Connor will be to us as he has great anticipation, and can match the quickest forward for speed and to be without him today was just a little too much of a miss.

For the first time our heads dropped and we looked tired as a result of many of our players having played up to 3 games in quick succession including school games and the game finished as a 7-1 defeat. I look forward to our next game as hopefully it should erase the memory of this weekends results.

However Jack played his first game for us today and his competitive spirit showed through and particularly in the first half was able to play a productive part in breaking down the opposition. In the second half he died away a little but that is only to be expected and soon he will compete throughout the match.
