An excellent team performance saw Twin Oaks get off to a superb winning start to the season with a 3-1 away win, against East Grinstead Town .

Moving the ball around well it was Twin Oaks who applied the early attacking pressure and it came as no surprise when mid-way through the first half the team found itself 1-0 up. A good move down the right hand side saw Bradley with the ball at his feet on the edge of the opponents penalty area. He cut inside a defender and unleashed a powerful left foot shot that flew into the back of the net, leaving their goalkeeper with no chance.

Backed by a hard working midfield and a rock solid defence Twin Oaks continued to play out the half in the same way they started and impressed with some fine passing moves and several attacks especially down the left side of the pitch.

On the occasions that East Grinstead mounted an attack the defence, in particular Grant and Tim, supported by the impressive Aaron in goal, managed to limit the opposing teams chances to score.

The second half saw Twin Oaks continuing to play well, attacking from both sides of the pitch, with the non-stop and hard-working Ben causing the opposing team problems down the right hand side. After several attempts on goal including a shot from Cameron that hit the crossbar and a disputed goal-line clearance, Twin Oaks were unlucky not to be 2-0 up.

East Grinstead started to apply some late half pressure and after several forward moves and with 5 minutes left on the clock they managed to squeeze the ball in from the left by-line of the goal, 1-1 the score.

The equalizing goal seemed to inspire Twin Oaks to move up a gear and although most of the attacking play throughout the game was created by some slick passing moves the second goal came from a long up field pass over the top of the East Grinstead defence that was well anticipated by Bradley who ran onto the ball and toe-poked it past the advancing keeper. Twin Oaks now 2-1 ahead with only 2 minutes plus stoppage time left.

East Grinstead continued to battle hard as they went in search of a second equalising goal, but as throughout the whole match, the Twin Oaks midfield, together with some fine defensive work and able goalkeeping from Aaron kept them at bay.

With the game moving into stoppage time Twin Oaks third and decisive goal came from a long up field clearance that found Jack bearing down on goal with only the advancing goalkeeper to beat. He intelligently allowed the ball to bounce before expertly lobbing the ball over the keeper and into the empty net.

Twin Oaks saw out the remaining time to deservedly finish 3-1 winners.

Congratulations must go to both teams who played out an entertaining game of football that was enjoyed by all of those who took part and by all of us who watched from the sidelines.

A good start to what we all hope proves to be a brilliant first season for Twin Oaks Football Club. Well done lads!
