In a match that took place in a rural setting (village field), Twin Oaks first cup match of the season saw them paired against Partridge Green, a team who they would meet again in the league in two weeks time.

After disturbing some overnight campers who had to hurriedly put out their camp-fire and after the groundsman had made some emergency running repairs to the pitch (filling in holes with soil) the match finally started.

Twin Oaks made the best of the early passage of play and quickly stamped their authority on the game. Some lovely passing interchanges resulted in a number of early attempts on the Partridge Green goal and with the defence determined not to have a repeat of last weeks game Twin Oaks rarely looked in trouble during the first half.

On 12 minutes Twin Oaks took the lead via a thunderbolt shot by Bradley from the edge of the penalty area. After some neat play down the right wing the ball was rolled into Bradley whose right foot shot flew into the back of the net. 1-0 to Twin Oaks.

Continuing to mount attack after attack it was a wonder that it took another 12 minutes before Twin Oaks doubled their lead. Again it was Bradley who provided the finishing touch to a well worked attacking move from the right.

Twin Oaks now 2-0 ahead after 24 minutes of play.

The rest of the first half was dominated by Twin Oaks and the boy's in blue went in at half -time 2-0 to the good.

Partridge Green made an encouraging start to the second half and applied some early pressure. They mounted a number of attacks in an effort to get back into the game. But with a hard working midfield in front of them the Twin Oaks defence were able to contain most of the home sides attacking play.

From this rock solid base it made it relatively easy for Twin Oaks to continue to put together the same passages of attacking play that they had showed in the first half. But whereas most of the attacking play in the opening half had been confined to the right hand side of the pitch, the majority of the second half attacks from the away side were now being developed from the left hand side. And it was this side of the pitch that the third goal was created.

Cameron was played in down the left wing via a well placed through ball from the left side of defence. He wasted no time in controlling the ball and racing towards the Partridge Green penalty area before unleashing a low powerful shot past the keeper. Ben cutting in from the right hand wing made sure of the goal by bundling the ball into the net, but the ball had already (sorry Ben) crossed the line. Cameron the scorer and Twin Oaks were now 3-0 ahead with some 20 minutes left to play.

The third Twin Oaks goal had all but virtually killed off any hope that Partridge Green made have had in this game.

And by the time the fourth goal was scored by way of another Cameron effort, the Partridge Green flame, like the overnight campers fire had truly been extinguished.

Another good Twin Oaks team performance saw them march on to the next round of the cup. But worthy of a reporters mention were the performances of Matt, Scott (back from injury) and Tim. Well done lad's....
